Carbon Capture by Lelya Powell
Carbon Capture
When we talk about the environment and talk about the change in climate and the things that are happening to the ozone layer and in the atmosphere is mostly because of greenhouse gases. There is more than one type of greenhouse gas like methane or carbon monoxide but the main one that we talk about is as we know carbon dioxide or CO2. Basically what carbon capture is that when energy is created by an industrial process then the emissions are stored so they do not go into the air and they actually have a lot of use in them and are important. Carbon capture technology is also CCS in short and when this process happens actually 90 to 100% can be stored. Get this too, the CO2 that is captured can also be made into different materials so that even though the omissions are captured it doesn’t go to waste it is utilized and it doesn’t hurt the environment. Even if it is helpful we still need more plants that can do this carbon capturing because the plants that we already have have captured approximately 40 million metric tons of CO2 but the emitted CO2 in America in 2018 was 5 million metric tons,So that shows to People that we need way more plants And in America right now we have a total of eight plants that you carbon capturing. Also the equipment used for carbon capturing is very expensive, but I believe that if we really want to save our environment that we would take the initiative and just pay for that.

Yes, this is a major hope for at least temporarily slowing down the carbon we release. Besides costs, are there any drawbacks?
