Conservation of Polar Bears

These award-winning photos show how majestic polar bears are - Insider

Polar Bears are one of many animals in today's world that are venerable to extinction. Polar Bears are located in five different countries: United Staes, Canada, Greenland, Norway, and the Soviet Union. In the article that I have found the author states "This agreement states that the five polar bear nations (Canada, Greenland, Norway, the United States, and the former Soviet Union) shall protect polar bear habitat, especially denning areas, feeding areas, and migratory routes; ban hunting of bears from aircraft and large motorized boats; conduct and coordinate management and research efforts; and exchange research results and data." By the author say this it tells us how the countries who have polar bears are taking actions to protect the polar bears that are still alive today. With the icebergs melting it is taking a big toll on the Polar Bears and their habitat. The author also states that scientists are putting tracking collars on the Polar Bears. By doing this the scientist can see where and when the Polar Bears move. Having Polar Bears in zoos give scientist a chance to truly study the biology of the Polar Bears. There are all different ways that everyone can help Polar Bears not go exciting. One of the bigs things that we as people can do is try and reduce global warming.

  1. Who doesn't love polar bears?! When going to the zoo the one place I spend the most time is watching the polar bears, they are such a beautiful and amazing animal. The fact that their homes are literally melting away is horrible, where will that put them? Having a chance to study the bears more closely will hopefully lead to a positive outcome for the polar bears.

  2. I believe we as people should definitely try to make a difference and put an end to global warming. It’s sad to see such a wonderful animal like a polar bear almost go extinct. We need to put an end to global warming and help provide a more stable life for these polar bears.

  3. Its so great seeing these articles about endangered species and how we can help them because it gives hope. The thing that's even better to me about this article is that polar bears just so happen to be my favorite animal, but this is a great article!
