Geothermal Energy by Lelya Powel

 Geothermal Energy by Lelya Powell

When you see the word geothermal it is pretty much self-explanatory. Geothermal energy is the energy that comes from the earth and its mostly heat energy, but it can also be used for cooling and clean energy like basic electricity. Geothermal energy is produced by taking hot water that is heated by the magma that is underground, it's like a geyser and sometimes geothermal energy comes from them too. When the water is taken from underground pressure is added to it which turns the water into steam then the hot water spins in a  turbine that is connected to an electric generator. Some of the things that are cons with geothermal energy is that it's very rare but the geothermal plants can cause earthquakes, also geothermal plants can only be in specific places , and lastly the initial cost of the plants are very expensive. Also the last thing that I'm going to say is you might have passed a geothermal plant and you didn't know it was one and you saw maybe smoke in the air it's not smoke but water vapor so it rarely causes pollution.

  1. That is very interesting, it reminds me of Ireland’s hot springs water systems. Now that you’ve mentioned it I do wonder how many are in our area or even in the US. What are the sole purposes of each planting?

  2. I liked your blog, I thought it was interesting how the plants could cause earthquakes and also it was interesting how you mentioned how expensive it would be to create one.
