Resources-Holly Barney

Today I’m going to talk about a lesser know resource...Helium. Yes I know it may seem as if that just something that floats around in air but it has several uses. Helium is used for medicine, scientific research, gas for aircraft and even cooling for reactors.  I myself wasn’t even aware of the things we used helium for in our everyday life. One of the most obvious helium uses though is for blimps or balloons to air them up. Where do we get helium you may ask. Well they typically recover the helium from places such as Texas,Oklahoma, and Kansas. Here are some pictures in which demonstrate actions such as cooling of reactors.

  1. It’s cool to find about about the many ways we use helium. It’s interesting that there is helium in medicine, and that is is used for cooling reactors. It was cool to see the example of how the cooling of the reactors happened.

  2. I like this post because I feel like the only time that we talk about helium is like bombs or balloons and I think that these links are good at explaining what other things helium can do and I think that it’s cool that helium can be a part of a cooling process in a bigger system.

  3. It is awesome to know that there are a lot more things that we use helium for than just blowing things up like balloons and blimps, but I would like to know some of the things. Pretty cool to find out about some different ways that we use it, and even where the helium comes from!
