Tiger extinction: Jenna Elliott

Tigers Endangered - Tiger Facts and Information

Today there are as few as 3,800 tigers that remain in the world. There has been a shocking 96% decrease in the population in just 100 years. Illegal trade in tigers, tiger parts, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict is what has pushed this amazing animal to near extinction. Since 1950, the world's population has triples. With the human population tripling it is causing agriculture expansion. This rapid expansion has reduced the tigers habitat. About half of the world's original forests have disappeared with out any plan to minimise the loss of the tiger habitats.

  1. This is never a good thing to hear as tigers are such a beautiful animal. To think that there has been a 96% decrease in their population is insane. Poaching for these awesome animals has to stop!

  2. I like that you tied in that since the human population is expanding is it taking away resources from the natural habitat of tigers. I hate hearing that there's only 3,800 tigers left, we seriously need to change this.

  3. The fact that the decrease is so large should automatically alert people to change and help preserve our environment. If one of these animals goes then all of them will eventually disappear.

  4. I wouldn’t be able to imagine going to the zoo and not seeing a tiger because there all gone. I feel like this should be a bigger issue to people and we need to stop extinction in general.
